Cooking Recipe: Fried Pork Bites (Emmanuil Boukis)

Fried bites of pork is also a Greek appetizer. Made by small pieces of pork or chicken, which are fried in oil with salt, pepper and a mix of spices, while often we can add wine or ouzo. Fried bites of pork is also called bekri-meze and it depends on the amount of wine we use.  source: el.wikipedia

Ingredients:(serves 4-5 person)

  • 1 kilo of Pork (cut in small pieces)
  • 3 table spoons of mustard
  • 1 tea spoon of curry
  • 2 small onions (finely chopped)
  • 1 tea spoon of paprika
  • 1 tea spoon sugar
  • 2 peppers (cut in rings)
  • some salt and pepper
  • some olive oil (for the pan)
  • 100ml white wine (dry)

Instructions for Preparation: (from chef Emmanuil Boukis)

Heat a pan in medium to high scale and add the olive oil and the onions. Saute for a minute or two and add the pork. When it has a nice brown color (5-6 minutes) add the peppers and let them cook for about 5 minutes. Pour in the wine, the mustard and let it simmer for about 15 minutes. Finally we add the salt, the pepper, the curry and the Paprika. Cook until the sauce thickens. We can serve it with rice if we like.
